The assignment is to create images as views on the city, as if the closed walls of the exhibition space - designed as a Black box- are broken open. The cinematic images conform to and contrast with the historical paintings on the wall. The question of the scenographers is to make a standing film image . We opt for a total image that registers the movement on the location within an unchanged frame, so that it really becomes a moving painting.
The challenge is to find locations and moments in Antwerp, beyond the clichés and unambiguously corresponding to the themes. It will be a search along the port of Antwerp, markets, terraces or public places for a picnic and waste mountains.
